Dear all: I joined this Community Group last week and it looks like there is not much activity. It is due to time, I guess, to break the ice with a self-introduction and sharing some ideas. Actually, "I" is "We", as two others colleague of mine in CTIC have also joined: Cristina González and Javier Rodríguez. We have been working in the Mobile Web arena since 2005 by working in different R&D projects and by transferring knowledge and software to different companies -mainly, Spanish. With regard to activity in W3C, we have participated in the W3C Mobile Web Best Practices working group where we provided a couple of reference implementations of the BPs and worked in the development of the W3C mobileOK Checker library which provides support to http://validator.w3.org/mobile/ We also participated in the Device Description working group, co-authoring the W3C Device Description Repository Simple API Recommendation and providing one of the reference implementations of the API. Currently, we are participating in the Model-Based User Interfaces working group. Since late 2011, we have started working in the Mobile Accessibility space by collaborating with the Web Ergonomics Laboratory of the University of Manchester, coordinated by Dr. Simon Harper -who most of you may know as the chair of the R&D working group within the WAI. This collaboration tries to follow the work in the PhD Thesis of Tianyi Chen and briefly explained in our contribution (http://www.w3.org/WAI/RD/2012/mobile/paper3/) to the recent Mobile Accessibility Online Symposium organized by W3C ( http://www.w3.org/WAI/RD/2012/mobile/). We have been working since 2006 in a software platform to create mobile web applications for different mobile devices (WAP -sorry to include it, although it is "non-web" :-) -, XHTML-MP/Basic, HTML4 and HTML5) called MyMobileWeb. It is the result of several Spanish and European R&D projects with many different partners, released under LGPL license. We are contributing our different research and development efforts to the platform, including the work in Mobile Accessibility. It has been the engine beyond some commercial web pages. After this intro, it is time to start with some action. The first action may be members introducing themselves and commenting their expectations about this Community Group. In our case, we would like to have: - a clear idea of the main technologies involved in mobile technologies - existing research and development - existing commercial products After all of this, the idea would be to identify missing gaps (including needs for new standardization) and R&D and commercial opportunities in the Mobile (Web) Accessibility arena. Looking forward to receiving your feedback.
