Re: Mobile A11y Task Force Agenda Thursday, May 26

Late potential regrets as I may not be able to make it. If I don't, one
thing I'd like to query about proposed orientation guideline:

- if we ARE trying to push UAs to implement features, wouldn't "the OS
needs to allow users to change orientation and not allow websites/apps
to lock orientation" be a UA requirement? For web content, most browsers
on mobile/tablet now have a "force enable zoom" that allows users to
explicitly use pinch-zoom even on pages that have set their viewport to
be non-scalable/zoomable. Should the onus here also be on the browser to
have a "force enable screen orientation" so that pages that try to lock
a particular portrait/landscape orientation can still be rotated?
I guess for native apps it may be slightly more problematic, as content
can't be easily reflowed/adapted...

Thoughts?
