Thank you for registering for the Workshop, "The Multilingual Web – The Way Ahead", in Luxembourg next week. **IMPORTANT** Please come to the venue with your passport or other valid identification document, otherwise you risk to be denied access to the building. Security will check your name against the list of registrations we hold. Here is some additional information you may find useful. REGISTRATION The registration desk will be open from 8am to 10am on Thursday 15th for you to pick up badges. After this time, you can pick up your badge from the security guard situated on the right-hand side of the entrance hall. GENERAL INFORMATION The workshop will be held in room M6 of the Jean Monnet building. The Call for Participation page at http://multilingualweb.eu/register includes information about how to get to the workshop and suggestions for hotels. The program can be seen at http://multilingualweb.eu/program If you have any logistic or technical questions, you can write to manuel.carrasco-benitez@ec.europa.eu. For questions about the program or the workshops in general, contact Richard Ishida ishida@w3.org. LUNCHES & EVENING RECEPTION You will need to buy your own lunch in the canteen of the Jean Monnet building. We have organized a reception for the Thursday evening at 7.30pm, at the Hotel Parc Belle-Vue, 5 Avenue Marie-Thérèse, Luxembourg, to enable you to network with other attendees. There will be some finger food and drinks available. The reception is open to all (but only) registered attendees at no cost. We look forward to seeing you there. See the program for a map. ***You will need to wear your badge to access the reception.*** POSTERS A few people will present posters during the event. These will be located in the area around the entrance to the room where we will hold the workshop. TWITTER You are encouraged to tweet your thoughts during the workshop. Please use the hashtag #mlwlux. You can see tweets from the Limerick workshop at http://topsy.com/s?type=tweet&q=%23mlwlim FLICKR & PHOTO-SHARING If you take photos during the workshop and upload to Flickr or other photo-sharing sites, we suggest you tag them with mlwlux when you upload. We will then try to link to those photos from the multilingualweb.eu site. If you make information available using other social media channels, feel free to let us know and we'll see if we can link to that too. We are also especially interested in tracking blog posts about the workshop. IRC During the MultilingualWeb workshop in Limerick we will have people summarizing the speaker presentations in an IRC channel. These notes will be available in real time, and will be made available later from the multilingualweb.eu site. This is particularly helpful for those at the workshop who are unable to hear the speakers, or those who struggle due to language difficulties. People who could not make it to the workshop can also follow the gist of the discussions, since this will be available on an open channel. In addition, you can *contribute* to the channel while it is running. Here are details of how to follow the IRC channel: If you have an IRC client: Join the #mlw channel on irc.w3.org:6665 Otherwise use the web client: Go to http://irc.w3.org/ You will be asked to provide a nickname. Choose something short. Next you are asked for a channel. Type #mlw You will see the conversation taking place in the main part of the page. You can participate by typing in the white line at the bottom of the page. You can practice joining the channel before the workshop starts, if you like. You can see the (slightly cleaned up) IRC logs for the Limerick conference at http://www.w3.org/2011/09/21-mlw-minutes See you soon in Luxembourg! Richard Ishida PS[1]: In case you are unaware, we have social media channels associated with the MultilingualWeb project on Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. You can find links to these from our home page at http://multilingualweb.eu/ PS[2]: If circumstances change and you are unable to attend the workshop, please send a note to Richard Ishida (ishida@w3.org). Thank you. -- Richard Ishida Internationalization Activity Lead W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) http://www.w3.org/International/ http://rishida.net/
