Hello, This message shares some links in which you will find a Web page and two YouTube files that explain why I believe that the search function of the Mixed Reality Service has potential to provide great value. One of the fundamental (yet missing) components for widespread Augmented Reality adoption is a service that continuously, automatically detects elements that could become AR experiences which meet a user’s interests or needs. In order to detect (without the users needing to take any action) if/where there are targets in a user’s proximity which could produce AR experiences, an agent operating on behalf of a user could be continuously “trolling” or searching a catalog of available assets/published experiences based on the user’s context, with place being one of the determinants of context. I have written and spoken about these concepts since 2013. A summary of the problem statement and the task force’s goals are available here [1]. Members of the AR Discovery task force (worked together in 2013-2014) presented a webinar. Archive of that is here [2] Finally, a 20-minute presentation I gave in Oct 2015 to AR meet up group in Barcelona on the topic is here [3]. I share these with you for feedback and possible inspiration and look forward to the discussion going forward.
