Dear MiniApps WG/CG participant, I hope you are fine. Due to various circumstances, some former WG active participants are no longer part of the group. Therefore, I am writing this email as an update on the current status of the activities. In concrete, I want to share with you three points. 1) Discussions on MiniApps at WebEvolve 2025. Early in September, W3C and Beihang University organized the annual WebEvolve forum. Among other topics, we discussed MiniApps and the future of standardization of the ecosystem. Some interesting discussions on the current status of SuperApps in Asia and their prosperous MiniApp ecosystem. We also discussed about the options to enable a real cross-platform and cross-super-app interoperability leveraging the W3C standards. Some voices suggested continuing the standardization activities, always considering the growing interest on MiniApps overseas. It was clear that W3C remains the best venue to achieve the final objectives of interoperability and universality. However, we still need to determine the next steps. 2) WG Charter Extension/Re-Charter I want to highlight that the charter [2] of the WG is about to expire (12 Oct). I'm proposing a 6-month extension while we decide these next steps (e.g., boost the existing activities with new requirements/views, adapt the chapter to change scope). In the meantime, we will organize a follow-up call to discuss this, also as preparation for the upcoming TPAC. 3) TPAC As you may know, TPAC 2025 will be held from 10 to 14 November in Kobe (Japan) and online. You can register now and plan the attendance [3]. We have a joint session allocated for the MiniApps WG and CG, where we can discuss the strategy and update the roadmap for our groups. The slot reserved for our group is on Friday, 14 (0900-1230, local time) [4]. I'll try to attract the attention of other related groups to enrich the content and dialog. In the meantime, please feel free to share your comments, questions and propose agenda items for the TPAC meeting. Just reply to the email or open a new issue in the repository [5]. Looking forward to seeing you at TPAC.
