Merchant Business group becomes Merchant Community group

Hello all

 

At our call last Monday (minutes ->
https://www.w3.org/2021/05/24-merchantbg-minutes.html) we discussed and
agreed a change in the group from a "business group" to a "community" group,
as well as resetting the format and meeting cadence.

 

In practice, changing to a community group brings the significant change
that the group will be free for non-members to join, allowing us to overcome
one of the very significant obstacles that we had encountered.

 

We now anticipate that the full group will meet 6-8 times year for "webinar"
style sessions that hopefully will be of strong interest and value to the
merchant community. We hope that the content can come from organisations
that are members of the group. We also anticipate members of the group
helping the chairs and I to curate those sessions, as we seek to build a
larger membership and engagement with the merchant community.
