Dear Advisory Committee Representative,
[This announcement will be forwarded to W3C group Chairs]

This is a Call for Review of a proposed recharter for the Media Working
Group:
https://www.w3.org/2025/06/media-wg-charter.html

Please review the charter and indicate your support using this online form:
https://www.w3.org/wbs/33280/mediawg-2025/

The deadline for responses is 03:59 UTC on 2025-07-05 (23:59, Boston
time on 2025-07-04) [0].

The mission of the Media Working Group is to develop and improve
client-side media processing and playback features on the Web.

The proposed scope for the Media Working Group remains unchanged,
covering detection of media capabilities, detection of the autoplay
policy, statistics on perceived playback quality, generation of media
streams for playback, playback of encrypted content, exposure of media
features at the system level to Web applications, and exposure of
metadata event tracks synchronized to audio or video media.

Descriptions in the list of deliverables were adjusted to align with
actual and planned work, notably on Media Source Extensions, Encrypted
Media Extensions, and WebCodecs.

The proposed team resource for the group remains at 0.1 FTE.

Current participants will not need to re-join the group if the new
charter is approved.

The horizontal review of the charter is available as a Strategy Github
