Dear All, I'm relaying the announcement to the group's primary public mailing list, to notify the group of the new charter approval and change to chairs. Regards, Xueyuan Jia, W3C Marketing & Communications -------- Forwarded Message -------- Subject: Call for Participation: Media Working Group Charter Approved; Join the Media WG; Marcos Caceres appointed as co-Chair of the Media WG Date: Tue, 27 Jun 2023 22:06:15 +0800 From: xueyuan <xueyuan@w3.org> To: w3c-ac-members@w3.org Dear Advisory Committee Representative, [This announcement will be forwarded to W3C group chairs] W3C is pleased to announce the re-charter of the Media Working Group. https://www.w3.org/2023/06/media-wg-charter.html The group is chartered through 31 May 2025. The mission of the Media Working Group is to develop and improve client-side media processing and playback features on the Web. Please use the following form to have your organization join the group. The form will also instruct you how to nominate participants: https://www.w3.org/groups/wg/media/join/ Please consider diversity when proposing people to participate in W3C groups. Representation from a wider group of people, especially people from under-represented groups, is vital for creating web standards that meet the needs of the wider web community. Current participants are not required to rejoin this group because the charter includes no new deliverables that require W3C Patent Policy licensing commitments. Jer Noble (Apple) has stepped down from his role as co-Chair of the Media Working Group. W3C is pleased to appoint Marcos Caceres (Apple) as the new co-Chair of the Media Working Group. Marcos joins continuing co-Chair Chris Needham (BBC). The Team Contact is François Daoust, <fd@w3.org>, for a total of 0.1 FTE. We would like to express our thanks to Jer Noble for his contribution to the group over the years. We welcome Marcos Caceres to his new role. More information about the group can be found on the group home page: https://www.w3.org/media-wg/ [...] To see all changes relative to the previous charter, follow this link: https://services.w3.org/htmldiff?doc1=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2021%2F07%2Fmedia-wg-charter.html&doc2=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2023%2F06%2Fmedia-wg-charter.html The rechartering announcement follows section 5.7.2 of the W3C Process Document: https://www.w3.org/2023/Process-20230612/#ACReviewAfter The Call for Participation follows section 4.4 of the W3C Process Document: https://www.w3.org/2023/Process-20230612/#cfp and the chair announcement follows section 3.4.1 of the W3C Process Document: https://www.w3.org/2023/Process-20230612/#ReqsAllGroups Thank you, For Philippe le Hégaret, W3C Strategy and Project Lead, Coralie Mercier, Head of W3C Marketing & Communications, François Daoust, Media Working Group Team Contact; Xueyuan Jia, W3C Marketing & Communications
