Dear all, Both the Media Annotations WG and the Media Fragments WG were invited today to report on the state of our work to the Semantic Web Coordination Group [1]. I did prepare some slides for this occasion, see http://www.w3.org/2008/WebVideo/Fragments/talks/2009-02-06/. @Philippe, feel free to re-use some slides in your future presentations, I have borrowed some of yours. You can read the minutes of this telecon at http://www.w3.org/2009/02/06-swcg-minutes.html (members only). The short summary and feedback from SWCG is that they think that what we are doing is important, and that TAG will be the main group to discuss our issues (no real surprise). Regarding one of the issues we have raised, that is, the semantics of media fragments, Harry Halpin came up with an interesting suggestion: use the sub-class/class hierarchies between media-types provided by IANA saying that a certain media type should "inherit" behavior with new syntax from media-types higher in the hierarchy. So we could register for example a 'video/mp4/fragment' that specifies the semantics we want ... I think we haven't thought about that yet, so I just mention it to feed the discussion ... Best regards.
