This is a PR that could be a basis for work after a "YES / NO" decision
- where we have to work on some other registry.

If the initial question is NO ("no registry"), I think the PR to handle
that would be somewhat different; in particular, none of the questions
regarding how to manage and run the registry would be open questions.
