While I continue to think about this: what behavior do you expect from 
your sink-based switching approach in the following cases:

A) Switching from a stream with a verified identity to one without.
B) Switching from a stream with a verified identity to one with a 
different verified identity.
C) Switching from a stream without a verified identity to one with one.
