Hi everyone, We've launched rather quickly but we already have 18 participants (hooray!), so it's about time we get the mailing list started. Daniel Marques and myself are currently set as chairs, so we feel like we should welcome everyone who has joined so far (and will be joining in the future). As the (somewhat crammed) description of the group says, we are hoping to build a space for people interested in bottom-up improvements of the web platform. We want to work together to identify incremental changes that help existing solutions while making the web better for everyone. We know that the standardization process is not easy (neither to understand nor to be successful in) and we have no easy answers. But we believe that a joint effort from the community has a much better chance at identifying both relevant and practical improvements to the platform. You might ask: what's next? Essentially: it's up to you. To start off, we suggest to focus on identifying common ground. Since people on this group have very different backgrounds, we will start planning a a virtual get-together (in another thread). Of course, if you have a particular topic or technological challenge that you want to discuss, then you can start a discussion right away or make a note and bring it up on the get-together. In case you are not aware, all Community Groups have a wiki (and potentially a GitHub repo) to organize. It is also useful to think about smaller task forces for specific topics, in particular to connect to other groups (other Community groups like WCIG as well as WGs and IGs). In the long run, there's an option to publish reports but let's not get ahead of ourselves. We're looking forward to working with everyone in this group! Best regards, Peter and Daniel. PS: We have applied for a slot at TPAC 2016 in Lisbon. This would allow us for a face-to-face meeting and exchanges with other groups.
