We have reviewers assigned: Dan Applequist, Hadley Beeman and Alice Boxhall BK: talked with some TAG/former TAG at blinkon/dev summit - generally positive feedback. No real other updates here. There was an attempt to get some initial review, but they didn't get to it and said that it would be on the f2f (which was expected) ------------------------------ respec editors / former editors / authors #168 - Add an acknowledgements section - it should include people who have actively contributed (check meeting minutes, github issues). Add former editors with Patrick and Robert. Discussion of idea with the conclusion being Current editors: Fred Wang, David Carisle, Former editors from MathML 3: Patrick Ion, Robert Miner, Acknowledgements: Brian Kardell, Rob Buis, Neil Soiffer + regular attendees / participants to discussions Operator spacing in scripts (38) review more examples https://github.com/mathml-refresh/mathml/issues/38#issuecomment-557910479 NS: Fred added more examples. DC, you know TeX inside and out. Can you verify this is using OpenType fonts? DC: Yes, it is. [everyone looks at the examples] NS: I don’t like the TeX examples. I like the Gecko best, but the other ones using MathML layout are better than TeX to me DC: I’m not enamored with TeX. A little spacing might be good. FW: Blink/Webkit use MathML spacing and Gecko uses half the space DC: in TeX, the cmr7 fonts which are used by TeX for scripts are deliberately made to be wide and have corresponding extra space around them. Not true for OpenType fonts. DC: If I had to pick, I’d go with Gecko. But if that’s harder, I’d go with full spacing scaled down. FW: For the implementation, MathML 3 spacing is easiest, but Gecko’s rule is just an extra line, so not a big problem. FW: Another option would be to add just one pixel DC: That doesn’t scale, so I don’t like that. NS: Does it make any sense to add an option to use TeX spacing rules? FW: It would mean another CSS property. MathJax has the option to use either rule. NS: That would add complication when not in the scripts. DC: I’d skip that for the first cut. NS: I agree. FW: For now, I agree let’s skip it. BM: You need to document it, and that yet more work. DC: It would be better to have some default that works most of the time. Resolution: Use Gecko rule of half MathML spacing for scriptlevel > 0. Use the script level at the core of the <mo>. NS: we need to have a test as to where the script level is coming from. (also check lspace/rspace) Operator Dictionary update any updates on fixing up entries? Make things more consistent and general review & fixup #87 #6 #151 (David) DC: Didn’t get chance to get to this NS: It’s a rat’s nest, so it will take time. NS: Next meeting in two weeks -- hopefully that gives some time to look over it.
