Subject: Simulating Visibility and Reading Performance in Low Vision discussion during our bi-weekly meeting 16 December 2021

Dear LVTF group,

I have posted the agenda for the 16 December 2021<https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2FWAI%2FGL%2Flow-vision-a11y-tf%2Fwiki%2FLVTF_Meetings&data=04%7C01%7Cbailey%40access-board.gov%7C19b00e8b64d842f96ca008d9be546fe2%7Cfc6093f5e55e4f93b2cf26d0822201c9%7C0%7C1%7C637750092156609391%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=xx6KMR3HpTDVi6IxIfpDiNHhx4su0uPjHBL08tSvgJA%3D&reserved=0> bi-weekly meeting.

We are looking for a scribe - please let me know if you are willing to scribe.

We are going to have researchers Gordon E. Legge and Ying-Zi Xiong on the bi-weekly Low Vision Task Force call on 16 December 2021 to present on simulating low vision. The researchers will present their research with a 10-15 minute presentation and LVTF participants can ask specific questions of the researchers in order for us to determine what might be useful for supplemental guidance and what may be applicable to future standards such as WCAG 3.0. Based on the discussion if there is wider applicability to WCAG 3.0 we can have future discussions. Questions will likely be focused on three categories - how their research can be applied to distinguishing uniqueness and other aspects of icons as well as considerations for text and implications beyond text and icons.

I have also invited a the Accessibility Guidelines Group chairs and there may be a few folks from the Accessibility Guidelines Working Group as well - but this is not an Accessibility Guidelines-wide group call - therefore, there may be a small number of additional guests.

There are 2 articles which will be presented by the researchers in a 15 minute session with time for questions afterwards. If you plan to attend and ask questions please familiarize yourself with the articles.
