Indeed, I had seen that was coming from some twitter chat earlier. It makes it easier to meet the new guideline, but as they noted:
> there are still some scenarios where the focus ring may be hard to perceive-for example, if a black button is on a white background, or if the focus ring is clipped by elements that are positioned closely together.

Still, at least it gives a better starting point as an example for developers.
