Contrast research

Hi everyone,

Jared from Webaim asked about research on the contrast ratios in WCAG 2 / 2.1:

From before my time on the TF, was there anything uncovered as part of the requirements gathering that contributed to or supported the contrast ratios?

We have relied on them in the new SCs (which I think is necessary and appropriate for 2.1), but it would be good to know if that is something that needs to change in Silver.
