* Apologies for cross posting * Dear friends, We are proud to announce that the new website of the Semantic Publishing And Referencing (SPAR) Ontologies is now available at http://www.sparontologies.net SPAR Ontologies form a suite of orthogonal and complementary OWL 2 DL ontology modules for the creation of comprehensive machine-readable RDF metadata for every aspect of semantic publishing and referencing: document description, bibliographic resource identifiers, types of citations and related contexts, bibliographic references, document parts and status, agents' roles and contributions, bibliometric data and workflow processes. The new website now includes the description of all the eight original SPAR Ontologies released in 2010 (i.e., FaBiO, CiTO, BiRO, C4O, DoCO, PSO, PRO, and PWO) plus the description of other complementary ontologies that have been developed recently and that extend the coverage of the possible description of the publishing domain (i.e., SCoRO, FRAPO, DataCite, BiDO, and Five*). All the ontologies are accompanied by examples of use, which include RDF sources that are fully citable via figshare, and the list of published papers that describe them, so as to enable the proper citation of such ontologies in scholarly articles. In addition, the website contains a brief description of the projects (e.g., BioTea, Nature Ontologies, OpenCitation, Utopia Documents) and publications that use and/or reference to SPAR Ontologies, and also acknowledges all the people who, in the past five years, have helped us make SPAR Ontologies possible. We kindly invite you to write us an email for pointing out additional projects and publications that are not listed yet: we will be honoured to add them in the website. Finally, please don't hesitate to follow and contact us for asking questions about our ontologies, for discussing their possible applications, and even for starting new collaborations. In particular, SPAR Ontologies have available: - a Twitter account (https://twitter.com/sparontologies) where we publish all the news related to the SPAR Ontologies and their related works; - an open Google group (https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/spar-ontologies) for discussing issues and possible applications of the SPAR Ontologies with us and the whole community; - a ticket collector (https://sourceforge.net/p/sempublishing/tickets/?source=navbar) for highlighting issues of any of the SPAR Ontologies; - an email (sparontologies@gmail.com) for personal and private communications with us. Thanks again for all your support! Have a nice day :-) S. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Silvio Peroni, Ph.D. Department of Computer Science and Engineering University of Bologna, Bologna (Italy) Tel: +39 051 2094871 E-mail: silvio.peroni@unibo.it Web: http://www.essepuntato.it Twitter: essepuntato
