---------------------------------------------------- Call for Papers Special Issue on Sensor-Web Systems, Applications and Services http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ijdsn/si/765630/cfp/ International Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ijdsn/ ---------------------------------------------------- The Web has reached its pinnacle of success with numerous systems and software having some sort of web-based access to its data, functionality and services. The integration of sensors/sensor networks and web platforms (aka Sensor-Web) has transformed the Web into a more dynamic and real-time information sharing landscape. As a result of such integration, a lot of applications and services have come into fruition, such as social sensing, health monitoring, and environment monitoring -- all of which leverage real-time sensory media feeds at a different level. The concepts like Sensor Web Enablement, Web of Things (Internet of Things), and Sensor Cloud Integration opened up new opportunities for information processing, exchange, alerting and notification for the greater good of people, society and environment. Despite all these benefits of integrating sensors and web, there are many challenges from various research and technical perspectives in terms of heterogeneity of sensors, interoperability, information exchange middleware, service development, alerting and notification, etc. that need further attention. This special issue solicits high-quality unpublished research and review articles focusing on open issues and challenges related to the integration of sensor networks, the Internet of Things, and the Web toward the development of innovative applications and services. Potential topics include, but are not limited to the following: * Sensor-Web infrastructure and middleware * Sensor-Web service development, discovery and management * Dynamic resource allocation mechanisms for Sensor-Web systems * Semantic modeling, analysis and annotation for Sensor-Web systems * Alerting and notification protocols and mechanisms for Sensor-Web systems * QoS, QoI and QoE computation and improvements in Sensor-Web systems * Sensor-Web data integration and information fusion * Querying and indexing the Sensor-Web * Framework for cloud, web and sensors for Sensor-Web systems * Sensor-Web based social and crowd sensing approaches * Sensor-Web security and privacy * Sensor-Web based surveillance and monitoring for public safety * Emerging applications and services of Sensor-Web Important dates --------------- Manuscript Due September 28, 2015 First Round of Reviews December 20, 2015 Publication Date February 15, 2016 Editors ------- Lead Guest Editor M.
