The Knowledge Discovery Unit at the INSIGHT Centre for Data Analytics [1]
at the National University of Ireland Galway [2] is seeking applications
for Masters and PhD students candidates.



The Knowledge Discovery Unit focuses on the investigation of the principles
and applications behind the next generation of intelligent,
meaning-oriented systems, investigating new approaches for the semantic
representation, processing and analysis of large-scale heterogeneous data
in context. The Unit focus lies at the intersection between unstructured
and structured data sources in order to derive actionable knowledge. The
unit is cross-disciplinary and conducts high impact research across the
fields of Natural Language Processing, Semantic Web, Linked Data and Data
Visualization and Graph Analytics .



The selected candidate will concentrate on researching the application of
Deep Learning and Distributional Semantic models for addressing different
Natural Language Processing tasks, including semantic and entity search,
question answering and text entailment.

- Bachelors degree in computer science, maths, science or engineering (MSc
is a plus)

- Good English communication skills

- Good programming skills (Industry experience is a plus)

- Attend the prerequisites for PhD studies at NUI Galway [3]

CLARITY, CLIQUE, 4C, TRIL). INSIGHT @ NUI Galway (formerly DERI [5]) is an
internationally recognised institute of 130 people that focuses on research
in Big Data, Semantic Web and Web Science.



INSIGHT@NUI Galway is based in Galway, one of the most beautiful Irish
cities shaped by artistic communities, active student life, innovative
industry and leading edge research. Galway is located at the beautiful west
coast of Ireland within the Galway Bay, 'between' Europe and the U.S.,
making it an ideal hub for national, European and international research.



The PhD fellowship will have a duration of 4 years, with a tax free stipend
of €1,500 per month and includes academic fees for the doctoral programme.



The MSc fellowship will have a duration of 2 years, with a tax free stipend
of €1,200 per month and includes academic fees for the Masters  programme.



Remuneration: PhD fellowships are €1,500 per month (tax free).


Masters fellowships are €1,200 per month (tax free).
