** Apologies for cross-posting ** STI Innsbruck is a research institute at the University of Innsbruck engaged in research and development of semantic technologies. Its focus is on the increased automatisation of data, content, and service delivery, as means for scalable multi-channel communication. STI Innsbruck is currently seeking candidates for the following positions: 2 PhD student positions We are searching for new staff to help us in current projects, such as: MSEE: The first Grand Challenge for MSEE project is to make SSME (Service Science Management and Engineering) evolve towards Manufacturing Systems and Factories of the Future. BIG: Building an industrial community around Big Data in Europe is the priority of this project, together with setting up the necessary collaboration and dissemination infrastructure to link technology suppliers, integrators and leading user organizations. PRELIDA: The Linked Data cloud has specific characteristics in terms of structuring, interlinkage, dynamicity and distribution that pose new challenges to the preservation community. PRELIDA will organise in-depth discussions among the linked data and preservation communities to identify which of these characteristics require novel solutions, and to develop road maps for addressing the new challenges. PlanetData: The main aim of PlanetData is to establish an interdisciplinary, sustainable European community of researchers, helping organizations to expose their data on the Web in a useful way. OntoHealth: This project aims to establish functionally flexible, standard-based Electronic Health Record systems that allow answering respectively support solving clinical problems on an individual, case-specific basis. LDBC: The goal of the Linked Data Benchmark Council (LDBC) project is to create the first comprehensive suite of open, fair and vendor-neutral benchmarks for RDF/graph databases together with the LDBC foundation which will define processes for obtaining, auditing and publishing results. Furthermore our researchers continuously acquire new projects. We offer The stimulating environment of a research institute in the fields of Semantic Web, Ontology Engineering, Linked Data, Semantic Web Services, Semantic Technologies beyond the Web, Service-Oriented Architectures, and formal languages Long-term collaboration with well-known academic institutions and major companies around the world A multicultural working place with state-of-the-art infrastructure, a competitive salary and resources including funding for attending international conferences, PhD symposia, summer schools, etc. We expect A strong background in Computer Science or related disciplines The Willingness to work in an international environment and combine formal scientific work with application-oriented research in order to solve real-world problems The ability to take part in large-scale international research projects Research interest and expertise in at least one of the following: Formal languages and reasoning (description logics, logic programming), ontology languages, Semantic Web services, business aspects of semantic systems, Linked Data.
