Research Associate - Linked Data University of Oxford - Oxford e-Research Centre Closes: 23rd June 2014 We are seeking a Research Associate which is a technical role working on Semantic Web and Linked Data technologies that support research in Digital Humanities, specifically for the ElEPHaT and Transforming Musicology projects. These projects share a need for identifying and semantically linking diverse digital resources (images of books, OCRed text, digital audio, symbolic music representations etc.) and the digital methods and analysis performed over these resources by humanities researchers. In addition to applicants with existing skills in this area, we also welcome those with experience using Linked Data in other fields who are looking to apply their skills and knowledge to new disciplines. The ElEPHaT project, a joint project between the centre and the Bodleian Digital Libraries, will use Linked Data to create worksets combining digitised content from the large-scale (11 million+ volumes) HathiTrust collection and the fully human-transcribed EEBO-TCP (Early English Books Online - Text Creation Partnership) corpus. These worksets will form the basis for new scholarly investigations of these texts on a large scale and the insights that will emerge from such study. The AHRC funded Transforming Musicology project sets out to bring computational techniques, such as those developed in the Music Information Retrieval (MIR) community, to bear on the discipline of musicology as it evolves and adapts to a digital age. The University of Oxford e-Research Centre leads the creation of a semantic framework for the project which will describe these new digital methods, linking them to the results they produce and the music resources over which analysis has been undertaken, again using Semantic Web and Linked Data approaches, and tackling challenges such as reuse, reproducibility and citation of the methods and data. This is a 2-year fixed-term post in the first instance, at Grade 7. The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 23 June 2014. Interviews will be held on 9 July 2014 Full details can be found at: https://www.recruit.ox.ac.uk/pls/hrisliverecruit/erq_jobspec_version_4.jobspec?p_id=113457
