Post-doctoral position at Stanford University for biomedical knowledge discovery

The Dumontier Laboratory (http://dumontierlab.com) at Stanford
University is seeking a Post-Doctoral Fellow to develop novel methods
for biomedical knowledge discovery. The research will use semantic
technologies to integrate and mine biomedical and clinical data
towards an improved understanding of drug mechanism of action with
novel industrial or therapeutic application. Example projects include
i) the development of methods to identify, assess, and overcome gaps
and inconsistencies in our collective knowledge of chemical action,
and ii) the development of methods to predict the efficacy of novel
combination drug therapies.

Requirements: PhD in Biomedical Informatics, Bioinformatics, Computer
Science, or related area of study. The successful candidate must have
excellent written and verbal communication skills, be highly motivated
and capable of largely independent work, and demonstrate strong
initiative and the ability to prioritize assigned tasks and work to
deadlines, and work with group members in pursuing synergistic
research opportunities. The ideal candidate will have a promising
publication record, strong programming skills, experience with machine
learning, experience using semantic web technologies such as OWL
ontologies, RDF Linked Data, and SADI semantic web services. Knowledge
of biochemistry or medicine is preferred, but not required.

Application: Please submit your Curriculum Vitae along with a
statement of research interests and contributions, PDFs of two best
papers (one first author; detail role in collaborative work), the
names and email addresses of 2 references (current advisor + one
other) to michel.dumontier@stanford.edu . Applications should be
submitted by January 1, 2015. This position is immediately available.

Happy holidays!
