Second call for papers: User Interaction based on Linked Library Data (UILLD) -- deadline prolonged to March 15, 2013

[Apologies for cross-posting]

Workshop on User interaction built on library linked data (UILLD) -- Pre-conference to the 79th World Library and Information Conference, Jurong East Regional Library, Singapore http://uilld2013.linkeddata.es/

INTRODUCTION

The quantity of Linked Data published by libraries is increasing dramatically: Following the lead of the National Library of Sweden (2008), several libraries and library networks have begun to publish authority files and bibliographic information as linked (open) data.
However, applications that consume this data are not yet widespread. Particularly, there is a lack of methods for integration of Linked Data from multiple sources and its presentation in appropriate end user interfaces. Existing services tend to build on one or two well integrated datasets – often from the same data supplier – and do not actively use the links provided to other datasets within or outside of the library or cultural heritage sector to provide a better user experience.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

We are proud to announce Paola Di Maio as the keynote speaker. Paola is Director of the Institute of Socio Technical Complex Systems (ISTCS) and chairs the Semantic Web Interfaces Community Group at the W3C.

CALL FOR PAPERS

The main objective of this workshop/pre-conference is to provide a platform for discussion of deployed services, concepts, and approaches for consuming Linked Data from libraries and other cultural heritage institutions. Special attention will be given to papers presenting working end user interfaces using Linked Data from both cultural heritage institutions (including libraries) and other datasets.
