The Units for eBusiness and Green and Sustainable IT at the Digital Enterprise Research Institute (DERI: http://www.deri.ie/) of the National University of Ireland, Galway invites applications for two internship positions for a duration of 3-6 months. DERI is the largest semantic web research organization in the world. DERI’s mission is to establish semantics as a core pillar of modern computer engineering. DERI offers a stimulating, dynamic, multi-cultural research environment with excellent ties to research groups worldwide. Successful candidates would be involved in the investigation of Semantic Web/Linked Data approaches within organizations in the key areas of semantic search, entity reconciliation, data quality, complex event processing, Semantic Sensor Networks, energy intelligence and standards-based financial and sustainability reporting. Mandatory Requirements: - The candidate should be registered Master’s or PhD student in computer science, applied mathematics, or similar. Outstanding undergraduate candidates will also be considered. - Experience with implementation work preferably in Java, Python or C++. - Personal initiative, creativity and ability to effectively work in a team.. Desirable Experience & Background: - Industrial - Knowledge of one of the topic areas - Experience with Semantic Web/Linked Data technologies (e.g. RDF, OWL, SPARQL) Students will receive a fellowship during their internship. The duration of the internships will be for 3-6 months, longer internships may also be considered. Positions are now (September 2012) open and will be filled as suitable candidates become available.
