DERI's mission is to establish semantics as a core pillar of modern computer engineering. This is a unique opportunity to join the efforts within DERI in collaboration with our industrial partners. During this internship you will develop and implement advanced querying techniques based on semantic technologies. ====================== The Candidates ====================== - Ability to work in a team based environment developing state of the art software solutions on time and to specification - Motivated and proactive attitude, willing to take ownership and initiative in all work assignments - Excellent analysis and problem solving skills - Strong design, development & testing skills - Excellent communication skills, verbal and written - Creative Thinking ====================== The Topics ====================== Internship topic will be centred around Semantic Web technologies, in particular (i) the integration of RDF, XML, RDB and (ii) the implementation of rule-based inference mechanisms for access control on top of RDF. ====================== Essential Skills ====================== - Third level degree in computer science or related discipline (advanced undergrad students which comply with the skills requirements will also be considered) - Good knowledge of object-oriented design principles - Strong background in Java programming - Familiarity with Unix/Linux systems ====================== Bonus Skills ====================== - Experience with Semantic Web technologies, esp.
