We are currently seeking applications for a job as research assistant (TV-L, E 13 http://oeffentlicher-dienst.info/tv-l/berlin/stufen.html) in the knowledge management research group led by Prof. Dr. Rudi Studer. In particular this position would involve making practical use of semantic technologies for linked (open) data and APIs / services and processes / mash-ups. This position would involve collaboration within the Karlsruhe Service Research Institute (KSRI, http://www.ksri.kit.edu), an interdisciplinary team of computer scientists, information managers, industrial engineers and economists, dedicated to "Service Research". If you have a very good university degree in computer science or a related field, seek a PhD and are interested in team-oriented project and research work at the international level, we look forward to receiving your application. Programming experience would be an advantage, as prototypes will be developed during the post. Though not a requirement any exposure to the use of semantic technologies (triple stores, reasoners, etc.) and/or distributed programming (e.g., Hadoop) would be beneficial. The university strives to increase the proportion of women in scientific service and therefore particularly welcomes applications from women. Also handicapped applicants, if qualified, will be given preference. Please send your application by post to the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Prof. Dr. Rudi Studer, Institute KSRI, D-76128 Karlsruhe, Germany. For questions about the vacancy please contact Dr. Barry Norton, barry.norton@kit.edu. Preliminary application deadline is the 6th October 2010. Subsequent applications may possibly also be considered.
