PlanetData Programs – Project Proposal Evaluators for Call 1 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx PlanetData (www.planet-data.eu) is an EU co-funded Network of Excellence creating a durable community of academic and industrial partners. This community is supported in conducting research in the large-scale data management area through the provision of data sets and access to tailored data management technology. It benefits from a comprehensive program of training, dissemination, standardization, and networking activities, intended to strengthen existing collaborations and establish new ones, to educate organizations in key questions related to open data exposure, and to transfer research results towards industry. During the duration of PlanetData (2010-2014) the consortium issues open calls to extend its expertise and to invite new partners to carry out certain tasks within the project. Selected partner(s) will be eligible for funding of research activities. Call 1 The ICT project PlanetData has vacancies in the consortium for partners having comprehensive research and technological expertise in the area of "Consuming Linked Data". Specific topics in the thematic area We solicit proposals for research projects with a focus on demonstration of developed technologies in a concrete application context making use of publicly available Linked Data sets. Relevant topics include but are not limited to Web-scale data management, searching and querying, reasoning, Linked Sensor Data, quality assessment and data curation, analytics and mining, front-ends and visualisation, as well as business and incentives models for data-driven services and applications. Submissions should demonstrate the applicability of their research results with an application that consumes data from the open Web, ideally of societal value, including, but not limited to the following domains: public sector information and statistical data, bibliographic and media sector information, life sciences, Earth science and environmental data, geospatial data, as well as transportation and urban management. Call 1 evaluation procedure Everyone, who is confirmed to act as a PlanetData Programs Call 1 evaluator, will receive a selection of submitted proposals shortly after the Call’s closing date of February 16, 2011. Afterwards there will be ca. one week of time for reading the proposals and producing the individual evaluation summary reports. The PlanetData Call 1 proposal evaluators’ physical consensus meetings will take place during the week of February 28 – March 4, 2011, in Innsbruck, Austria, and will last for 2-4 days depending on the number of proposals received. The meetings will be co-located with the PlanetData NoE general assembly meeting. The Network will cover the evaluators’ travel and accommodation expenses in Innsbruck, in accordance with the EC regulations.
