@@@@ Apoligies for cross postings @@@@ Call for Paper Special Session on Semantics Aware Data Management In the “The second International Conference on Application of Digital Information and Web Technologies”, ICADIWT 2009 www.dirf.org/diwt2009 Goal and Scope Traditionally, Data Management is essentially the process of managing data as a resource that is valuable to the society, organization or business. Data management is the development, execution and supervision of plans, policies, programs and practices that control, protect, deliver and enhance the value of data and information assets. Recently, Semantic Web Technologies have been designed to extend the capabilities of information on the Web and enterprise systems to be associated in meaningful ways. The application of World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) standards like XML, MPEG-7, RDF and OWL serve as foundations to advancing the adoption of semantic technologies. The goal of this special session is to bring the academic and practitioners of the semantic web community and data management community together and provide a forum for multidisciplinary research opportunities, by focusing on how to apply the semantic technologies to modeling, annotation, storage, processing and management of different types of massive data. Topics of interest include but are not limited to practical areas that span both semantic technologies and data management: Semantics aware data management in the context of mobile, learning, enterprise, society, pervasive, ubiquitous, grid, cloud and web environments Semantic multimedia metadata extraction Annotation tools and methods for data semantics Ontology generation/learning/reasoning Semantic-based Internet data streaming and delivery Audio, Video and Multimedia standards (e.g., MPEG-7 and XMP) and Semantic Web Semantics enabled text, web, audio, video applications (including annotation, browsing, storage, retrieval, and visualization) Semantics enabled networking and middleware for multimedia applications Semantic Search Semantic Advertising and Marketing Linked Data Collaboration and Social Networks Foundational Topics Semantic Web and Web 3.0 Semantic Case Studies Taxonomies Semantic Integration Data Integration and Mash-ups Unstructured Information Semantic Query Semantic Rules Developing Semantic Applications Semantics for Enterprise Information Management (EIM) Knowledge Engineering and Management Semantic SOA (Service Oriented Architectures) and more Important Dates Submission Date May 1, 2009 Notification of acceptance May 25 , 2009 Camera Ready submission June 20, 2009 Registration June 12, 2009 Conference date August 4-6, 2009 Submission of Papers Papers should be submitted electronically to the session chai.r International Program Committee Maria Bielikova, Slovak University of Technology , Slovakia Frederic Andres, National Institute of Informatics, Japan Michael May, Technical University of Denmark , Denmark Christian Guetl, Technical University of Graz , Austria Klaus Meyer Wegener, Friedrich-Alexander-Universitaet Erlangen, Germany Elizabeth A.
