[Call for Comments] The Provenance Vocabulary for the Web of Data

Dear LODers,

We are very pleased to announce the release of an alpha version of the
Provenance Vocabulary [1]. The aim of this vocabulary is to enable providers
of Web data to publish provenance-related metadata about their data. The
"Guide to the Provenance Vocabulary" [2] explains how to use the vocabulary
and provides many examples.

Similar to SIOC the Provenance Vocabulary is defined as an OWL-DL ontology
which is partitioned in a core ontology [3] and supplementary modules.

We ask for comments on both the vocabulary [3] as well as the guide [2]. To
comment either reply to this message and/or share your thoughts with us at
the mailinglist for users of the Provenance Vocabulary [4]. Issues with the
vocabulary can also be reported using the issue tracker [5].

Furthermore, we kindly ask developers of Linked Data publishing tools to
consider extending their tools with a provenance component that automatically
adds provenance-related metadata to the provided Linked Data and to adopt the
Provenance Vocabulary for such a component. We are currently working on such
an extension for Triplify and for Pubby.

On behalf of the Provenance Vocabulary team (Jun Zhao and Olaf Hartig).

Cheers,
 Olaf
