Dear all, I would like to inform you about an activity under-way to develop a geospatial extension to DCAT-AP, a metadata interchange format being used across European data portals. Briefly, the objective is to agree on a DCAT-AP compliant representation of geospatial metadata. To achieve this, GeoDCAT-AP will consolidate and extent preliminary work concerning the alignment of INSPIRE metadata with DCAT-AP (referred to as INSPIRE+DCAT-AP): http://europa.eu/!wT77pV The GeoDCAT-AP WG is going to start their activity shortly, and I would like to extend the invitation to join to any of you who are interested. Actually some of the issues to be addressed have already been discussed by the LOCADD CG (e.g., representation of CRSs, spatial / temporal resolution, recommend geometry encodings), and your contribution would be precious. More details on the planned work and the timing are available at https://joinup.ec.europa.eu/node/139283/ The first telecon is planned within the end of this month - a doodle poll has been set up to decide the date: http://doodle.com/acpbgpxtv7yi5d2a My apologies for the short notice, but there has been some delay in the preparatory phase, and we have a tight schedule. The plan is to deliver the final GeoDCAT-AP spec within June 2015. We are going to have a total of 4 telecons, corresponding to each of the phases of the project (which include a public review period). Most part of the work will be done through the Joinup issue tracker and on the GeoDCAT-AP mailing list. Please don't hesitate to contact me for any questions and comments. Thanks!
