ALA Midwinter 2012: Karen Coyle to speak at SAC meeting

The ALCTS CaMMS Subject Analysis Committee is pleased to announce that
Karen Coyle will be a guest speaker at its Monday, January 23 meeting
at 1:30-2:30 in the HYATT, Reunion Ballroom B.

KO: Knowledge Organization
Searching today, in both Web search engines and library systems,
predominantly uses keyword searching techniques. Integrating
structured thesauri and classifications with keyword searching is
difficult because keyword searching is a mechanical matter of matching
strings. What thesauri and classifications have are links, which means
that it may be possible to exploit them better in a linked data
environment. Coyle will expand on this possibility with some thoughts
and some open-ended questions.
