[Apologies for cross-posting] The IFLA Information Technology section, with support of Cataloguing section, Classification and Indexing section, and Knowledge Management section, proposes the creation of a Semantic Web Special Interest Group (SWSIG) within IFLA. The SWSIG intends to be a platform where interested professionals could gather, and undertake whatever tasks are needed to develop, enhance and facilitate the adoption of semantic Web technologies in the library community. The rationale for the group can be found at [1]. Please support the creation of the SWSIG by adding your name on the wiki page at [1] by December, 1st at the latest Because the wiki is in the majority for german-speaking colleagues, the default language is german and for anonymous use it's unfortunately not possible to change the language. So you have to use the "Bearbeiten"-Button to change the text or to add your signature. Please enter the letters from the Captcha-image and store (with "Speichern") your changes. You don't have to be an IFLA member representative to sign. Supporting the creation of the SWSIG doesn't imply any commitment to participate in the group's activities. If approved, the SWSIG will hold its first meeting during IFLA WLIC 2011 in Puerto Rico. The meeting will be open to any interested person.
