Introducing FREME - a framework for multilingual and semantic enrichment of digital content

Dear LD4LT and BPMLOD groups and OntoLex community groups and ITS IG,

apologies for cross-posting - with this mail I want to introduce you the FREME framework. Future discussions of this will happen in the LD4LT group <https://www.w3.org/community/ld4lt/>. If you are interested in the below, please join that group.

FREME <http://freme-project.eu/> is a framework for multilingual and semantic enrichment of digital content. It is available as a set of APIs that provide access to so-called e-Services. Funded by the FREME project, six services are being made available. If you are interested to directly try out the APIs, go to
http://api.freme-project.eu/doc/0.4/api-doc/simple.html <http://api.freme-project.eu/doc/0.4/api-doc/simple.html>
a full documentation is here
http://api.freme-project.eu/doc/0.4/api-doc/full.html <http://api.freme-project.eu/doc/0.4/api-doc/full.html>
The above is the latest version 0.4, the development version is here

FREME is relevant for your groups for several reasons:
- it realizes several best practices around linguistic linked data developed in the BPMLOD CG <https://www.w3.org/community/bpmlod/#group-reports>
- it uses linked data vocabularies like the ontolex lemon model developed in the OntoLex CG <https://www.w3.org/community/ontolex/>
- It uses NIF <http://persistence.uni-leipzig.org/nlp2rdf/ontologies/nif-core/nif-core.html> to constitute a linked data workflow, combining linguistic linked data and linked data in general
- it has one service called e-Internationalization <http://api.freme-project.eu/doc/0.4/knowledge-base/eInternationalization.html> that deploys the OKAPI framework and understand Internationalization Tag Set data categories <http://www.w3.org/TR/its20/> during extraction of content for enrichment and to some extend merging of the enriched content into the original format
The above developments have been pushed forward by the LIDER <http://lider-project.eu/> project. In this sense, FREME is an example of deploying LIDER outcomes in various business scenarios. See for the business motivation around FREME this general presentation <http://de.slideshare.net/FREMEProjectH2020/freme-generaloverviewversionjune2015>.

I am sending this mail as heads up. Ideally it will be just a start to develop more services around the framework. See also in these slides <https://ec.europa.eu/digital-agenda/events/cf/big-data-information-and-networking-days-h2020-ict-2016-2017/document.cfm?doc_id=34224> a summary of people involved in the framework and related projects, going beyond FREME. The slides will be presented <https://ec.europa.eu/digital-agenda/events/cf/big-data-information-and-networking-days-h2020-ict-2016-2017/item-display.cfm?id=18089> next week at the EU big data networking day.

In the next weeks we will organize a webinar around FREME in the LD4LT group. If you are interested in participating please join the group or let me know so that we can send you further information.

Best,

Felix
