Sv: RE: BOT translations

Hi all,

It has been quite overwhelming to see you all working on that sheet simultaneously. Great job everyone!

About the conversion to Turtle. Thanks for your good ideas to how we can process the data, but I think we should avoid having too many manual steps, so I decided to "build the button" (add a custom script). In the "Triples" tab, there is now a button that will build the triples. Unfortunately, there is a limitation of 50k characters per cell, so we have to split the comments. It is now quite simple to update the ontology. Perhaps we can even write directly to the Github repo instead of just writing the triples to the sheet. It would also be cool if we could do a comparison between what is in the release and what has been added but that's a more complex job.

I think the Sheet should now be the single source for labels and comments, so I would prefer if you add your contributions there, @Richard. Sorry for the trouble.

I hope to see more translations in the future. Thanks to our new member Rui Ma we even have Chinese translations now!

Best

Mads

Hi Richard,

it would be great if you can provide Czech and Slovak translations.

If you prefer you can provide a github PR. As we are collecting the translations in a spread sheet (see recent email by me) it might be easier for you to simply add them there.

Best

Georg

Hello to all,

regarding to BOT language variations enrichment,
I will try to make my translations as pull requests for the Github repo with my czech and slovak translations,
which helps my GithHub practising, where my first tries to send language updates were at 12/2018 (Mads maybe remembers my short tries), so I hope I will beat my pesimism regarding in Git and GitHub file management learning. hopefully expect the pull request from me soon

regarding Mads´s comment : Next step is to figure out how we can parse this to triples

If You look into way how to parse tabular data (transferable to xlsx file, which definetly google spreadsheet is)
there can be solution via protégé function tools/create axioms from Excel workbook

I send You example of data importing of ontology of the building code (building law) which I am slowly developing :
You may see my workflow of importing the data from the building law text edited in the excel, transferred to triples as seen in example on Youtube video:
https://youtu.be/j2yLmR60XH4 (since appx 1:26 is relevant, before , text of ontology shown in editor without individuals)

when You have data pre-prepared in the excel sheet,
you may use the function of importing the excel book with the rules based on the manual
https://github.com/protegeproject/mapping-master/wiki/MappingMasterDSL
from data in excel You may :

  *   create specific classes
  * create individuals within object properties
  * create individuals within the data properties
  * and definitely create individuals as comments also .. but I never had used them .. I actually do not consider them for me as much usable
  * I am not sure about the labels, I do not know them, manual of MappingMasterDSL will tell You more

ontology (even in Czech language) together with import-rules file and excel import data file You may download from :
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Ww_UCM6jg0O1XYIBi8xNu1Cb0vHzAtXy

for checking the workflow out.

But I never “add” more data into existing ontology with already existing individuals… I always did delete all individuals existing and afterwards imported the new ones, but function offers to add individuals to existing data.

Would this workflow help to import new data to BOT ontology ?

Subject: BOT translations

Dear all,

At Yesterday’s meeting, we had a small "hackathon" where the participants started adding labels and comments for classes and properties in the BOT ontology. Georg Schneider initiated a Google Sheet that is now publicly available, and I encourage you to go in and add the missing translations. This is how it works:

  * Each row has a concept/property and the columns contain the translations in different languages
  * The first sheet has comments and the second sheet has labels
  * Editors are listed in the second row. Add your name if you contributed and we will make sure to include your name in the official BOT ontology
  * Grey cells are yet to be filled. Green cells are recently added (and therefore not part of the official ontology)
Next step is to figure out how we can parse this to triples. My thought was to have all labels/comments at the bottom of the Turtle-file and automatically generate this part from the sheet. It would also be useful to include some comparison that highlights differences in the sheet. I can take a look at it, but I also understood that María Poveda-Villalón had something that we might be able to reuse?
I hope to see lots of new translations with this initiative.
