Prompted by Fredrik's solution, I've now written the code to check for possible ambiguities. It turns out that the puzzle is ambiguous in some places, because a few words taken together can overlap on multiple different characters. So now I have to work out how to refine the rules to eliminate those ambiguities. (I say "I have to" as though my life depends on it in some way. But you know what I mean.) Thanks to Fredrik and Norm for the playtesting!
