Immersive Web Community Group Call, October 15th

Hello, immersive web folks.

Tomorrow, October 15th, there *will* be a CG call in the usual time slot:
12pm PDT (7PM UTC).

- I have started work to create a single explainer for hit test (currently
the repo contains 2 explainers), the version I'm working on can be found
here:
https://github.com/bialpio/hit-test/blob/explainer-merge/hit-testing-explainer.md.
This is still a work in progress but should be stable by the time you send
out the agenda email on Monday.
- My explainer removes the concept of automatically created hit test
sources for transient input sources, and adds hit test pre-registration for
transient input sources. This should be a compromise that allows us to
leave the concept of transient input sources unchanged in the main spec,
while also addressing some concerns regarding automatically created hit
test sources (namely: they do not allow specifying arbitrary rays for hit
test, and they require UAs to proactively perform initial hit test w/o
application's explicit intent). The idea for pre-registration already
appeared during previous CG call (see
https://github.com/immersive-web/webxr/issues/819#issuecomment-530606452).
- My explainer also removes ad-hoc (asynchronous) variant of hit test API
as there are still some issues related to delivering results to the
application (poses can be queried from XRFrame only when it's active, but
old frame instances won't get reactivated). This should be easy to add back
once we come up with a good solution.

As always, let me know if there are additional agenda topics that you feel
would be best addressed in the call.
