folks, I have just created a new group in the W3C groups database, called Indic Layout Task Force. See https://www.w3.org/2000/09/dbwg/details?group=76791 With the group set up comes a dedicated mailing list, public-ilreq-admin, which can be used for adminstrative internal discussions of the Indic Layout Task Force. (Note that all technical discussions should continue on public-i18n-indic@w3.org. This list is likely to see little use – it may be used to post meeting agendas and regrets, to discuss practical issues related to the organization of the group, etc.) Only members of the Indic Layout Task Force can send email to and receive email from this list. Having the group set up in the database allows us to move forward with the task force, per the new charter. We now need to ensure that we establish a quorum of task force members who will make it representative of the stakeholder communities. Somnath, Swaran, please forward to me and Mahesh the names of people you feel should be added to the group. These people will need to obtain a W3C username, if they don't have one, and must make some level of commitment to participate, such as attendance at meetings, editorial work, etc. (Mahesh, you are not currently a group member: should I add you?) By the way, I already have a proposal for one new participant in mind: Anshuman Pandey[1], currently a post-doctoral researcher in the Department of Linguistics at the University of California, Berkeley, and one of the key drivers of new Indic script proposals for Unicode. He works with Debbie Anderson at the Script Encoding Initiative (SEI), and asked me if he could join the group. Swaran, Mahesh, if you are ok with this, please let me know and I will help to bring him on board. hope that helps, ri [1] http://linguistics.berkeley.edu/~pandey/
