kidayasuo has just created a new issue for https://github.com/w3c/i18n-discuss: == [Generic font families] kai is also one of popular typefaces in Japan == Commenting on https://github.com/w3c/i18n-discuss/wiki/Generic-font-families kai is also a popular typeface in Japan, and I wonder if we should add some notes in the description of kai. The modern uses of the typeface in Japan are: - Calligraphy (書道) - Diploma (賞状) - Advertisement, book titles and other design materials to make them look authentic and traditional. This brushstroke typeface is one of the traditional and authentic Chinese typeface. It evolved in vertical text and still used primarily in vertical writing. Because of it the use on digital media such as the web is not very common. You'll see them more often in company or other logo images than as live text. Windows has this typeface, although Apple's platforms do not.
