When opacity is applied to text,  <span class="fail">Firefox</span> and <span class="fail">Chrome</span> produce dark patches where the cursive glyphs overlap, but <span class="pass">Safari</span> and <span class="pass">Edge</span> don't. See the <a href="https://w3c.github.io/i18n-tests/results/cursive#text_opacity">test</a>.
