This is a translation artifact. The original sentence did not use any pronoun at all, as is often the case in Japanese. Sentences that have a pronoun in English often elide it in Japanese, so when translating from Japanese, it's not always obvious which pronoun to use, or whether an impersonal phrasing should be used.
