I definitely think we should add something to clreq. Here's some suggested text as a starter. I imagine this would be a new subsection at the end of 3.3 Interlinear Annotations. # Mixing emphasis marks and annotations If both pinyin and emphasis marks are applied to the same base characters, here are no absolute rules for how to position them relative to each other, or relative to the base characters. The approach adopted often depends on the rules of a particular printing house. For automatic type-setting, it is tolerable to include both on the same side of the base character (see Fig. XX), but In printing, most designers will usually prefer to avoid that.
