I almost, but not quite, entirely disagree.

The Unicode definition of whitespace is meant to be extensive, and 
includes every character that has a width or height (no fully 
invisible characters) but doesn't put ink on the paper/screen (no 
graphic characters).  That does _not_ mean that all of them are 
suitable for specifications.  Specs should allow no whitespace except 
ASCII space, tab, carriage return, and newline.  Anything else is just
 an invitation to confusion and misunderstanding.
