I almost, but not quite, entirely disagree. The Unicode definition of whitespace is meant to be extensive, and includes every character that has a width or height (no fully invisible characters) but doesn't put ink on the paper/screen (no graphic characters). That does _not_ mean that all of them are suitable for specifications. Specs should allow no whitespace except ASCII space, tab, carriage return, and newline.
