Fwd: Microsoft Edge: bidi-isolate support

I also raised a new request for improvement for Edge, specifically
requesting isolation support, at
https://wpdev.uservoice.com/forums/257854-microsoft-edge-developer/suggestions/32394604-support-bidi-isolation-for-elements-with-dir-attri

I have also added a couple of comments to
https://wpdev.uservoice.com/forums/257854-microsoft-edge-developer/suggestions/10784463-support-dir-auto,
and upvoted that and
https://wpdev.uservoice.com/forums/257854-microsoft-edge-developer/suggestions/10492476--bdi-element

*Please upvote these improvement requests* if you are reading this and
want to see Edge provide proper support for RTL scripts, like the other
browsers do.

thanks,
ri

Richard,

Thanks for the chat about bidi-isolation support for dir=auto yesterday.
As promised, I’m sending you a couple of links to the Microsoft Edge
user voice, which is one source of feedback our team uses to gauge web
developer interest in particular platform features (missing or
speculative). It looks like there are two existing items posted there:

  1. Request for dir=auto support.

https://wpdev.uservoice.com/forums/257854-microsoft-edge-developer/suggestions/10784463-support-dir-auto

This request strangely notes at the bottom that this feature should
trigger bidi-isolation of the content, but that support is orthogonal to
the core value of dir=auto

  2. Request for <bdi> element.

https://wpdev.uservoice.com/forums/257854-microsoft-edge-developer/suggestions/10492476--bdi-element

I didn’t see a specific ask (not tied to the above) for unicode-bidi:
isolate.

Thanks,

-travis
