Requiring RDFS ranges in supported properties

I started an emotional (for me) discussion on GitHub [1] where we consider the recommendations around supported property ranges.
On one hand there are performance and practical reasons to include as much as possible in the API Documenation to reduce roundtrips and simplify client implementation.
On the other hand it seems wasteful to duplicate information which otherwise should, ideally, be included in reference vocabularies themselves.
