TOPICS: UDHR ONTOLOGY

Hi All,

Following-up from the previous note, one of the topics of importance to me,
as is considered important to in-turn support foundational requirements
that include but are not limited to, "safety protocols", one of the top
priorities for me is about developing 'values credentials', which are
in-effect machine readable tools - based upon the use of semantic web &
'linked data' related w3c technologies; and the one of the first sought to
be progressed, is the UDHR[1].

Unicode has already done some work, providing XML examples - here's a link
to the English version[2].

There is a fair-bit more to do, to define the ontological structures of how
these instruments may be embodied using RDF serialisations, and related
tooling; including but not limited to, support for use in Verifiable
Credentials[3] and related systems.

I will follow-up once I've updated my prior works[9] (note the repo
branches also, ie: some illustrative earlier works[10] done in the hopes
others would improve & implement) and have put together some sort of
presentation for consideration. Let me know if others are interested in
helping with this activity, noting finally - i have expressly reached-out
to various UN related people (indeed also raising the query at WSIS2023),
with the express consideration of 'agent relations' hygiene related
factors, whereby the stewardship of particular roles in the real-world,
should also be the case online.

However, that does not necessarily mean that the UN creates the tools, as I
have otherwise hoped would have already been done sometime earlier. if
they do otherwise exist, and the problem is that i am merely not aware of
the link, then being alerted to it would be helpful. In a way, this is a
bit like the circumstances whereby members of the public might help to
create some sort of infrastructure, as a (web) civics activity - which then
ends-up being governed / managed, by whomever the appropriate entity is...

Much as is otherwise the case - by example, of works done within W3C CGs...

NOTES:

1. The considerations about UN Instruments & values credentials, is in-turn
far broader than just the UDHR; as such, I expect more topics in the
general area of consideration.

2. The 'values credentials' are considered to be a variation of the texts
of the original documents, which are now defined in relation to the
agreements of state entities - rather than persons, between one-another.

3. SemWeb: IMHO, implementations may employ different methods, yet
interoperability is needed.

Therefore assumption is: semantic web based tooling (perhaps also JSON?),
seems to be the most sensible approach for interoperability. Therein, imo,
the 'ontology' would need to describe meanings for particular terms of
importance, alongside other factors; as well as, the need to translate into
many languages - perhaps, as may only be properly resourced - overtime.

If people do not have existing knowledge of how semantic web ontologies are
created, the tools or other related understandings, whilst noting that
there are many far better at this stuff than myself - nonetheless, more
than happy to help. To begin with, note these two videos[4][5] which might
be a helpful starting point, noting that the credentials documentation
often refers to json-ld[6]. I have also just quickly found this playlist
about ontology engineering[7], noting that these tools - what exists, and
what does not exist, influences how AI is made able to work[8].
