Hi all, How exciting.. Bit of history, from my perspective... as an introduction... So, i've been working on this idea, about how people could store their own information since around 2000[1][2], inspired by my grandfathers (Dr John P Carew MBBS FRACP, FCPA, FCP (London)) cousin, Sir John Carew Eccles AC FRS FRACP FRSNZ FAA, who work is regarded as instrumental in the field of neuroscience[3], and studies into how consciousness works[4]. Its been a long journey, as is also the case for many others... I observe that there has been this continual contest between 'mainframe' like systems, and those better equipped to support inter-personal computing[5]. During the last decade, a great deal of progress has been made via W3C on various components. In 2017, I managed (barely) to put together a fes session for WWW2017 [6], including this video[7] that was sadly provided a new date by google when i changed the visibility... nonetheless, when considering the spatio-temporal factors at play, and the intense demands upon us all to figure out how to radically scale out capacities to build peace infrastructure[8] for billions of people, It has been my long-standing belief, and efforts[8], to deliver Human Centric AI [9] technology capabilities, ecosystems, safety protocols, interoperability requirements, support for all languages of prayer and the means to ensure portability and preservation of human rights[10][11], even for prisoners[12]. So, recently, as i'm working on a particular implementation; and in-turn, supporting community development more broadly, to support both interoperability and common requirements between systems, i end-up going to a UN meeting online, WSIS 2023[13], hearing about the progress[14] made since ~2015/6 [15][16]; and i had one big question (whilst so very nervous); as i needed to use 'values credentials', human rights based instruments[10]; and had been seeking out UN support to take-on the job, first started some years ago[17]. Many years ago, a thing called the Magna Carta, was negotiated in a church in holborn[18]; but what would the world be like, if only the king could define the terms? so i very nervously asked my question[19] and was surprised by the response. indeed, i found the experience overall, quite overwhelming. nonetheless, the experience led to identifying an array of seemingly critical works, that really need to be done to better support - human rights, and means through which Human Centric Ai systems, may be positively employed to support transformational improvements for all members of our human family, and through us, our biosphere overall. So, with various activities already somewhat underway, and a variety of requirements somewhat considered - although not well drafted nor as well described as i hope will become the consequence of this groups activities, I've started on some initial documents for this group, and in-turn also a refactor of some of the existing bits and pieces of work, that may well form part of what this group's members might be interested in helping to improve upon, and achieve[20]. Generally speaking overwise; i am based in Australia, and it is important to note the time zone differences with many who are located elsewhere in the world; and whilst i often work nights, it is also likely that there will be alot of participants from places other than the US/EU, and that i hope this will become a shared benefit, for all involved. For those who are not already a member to the CG, here's the link: https://www.w3.org/community/humancentricai/ One of the first jobs is likely to be the process of seeking to bring people together, followed by working towards defining the charter, and any 'quick wins' that might be done in some useful way, to improve opportunities for others to solve problems. Any questions, feel welcome to reach out. Sincerely & Kind Regards, Timothy C.
