Let's continue to have a discussion about moving to a release schedule for the test suite. At TPAC some folks thought this would create more participation and would help the test suite make more progress. The draft proposal would be to take test submissions (just like we have now) for 4 months and then stabilize submitted tests for 2 months. During the stabilization period all test would be reviewed/fixed/updated. If no objections were raised for a test then it would be approved at the end of the stabilization period. If a test was not updated due to feedback then it would not be included in the release of the test suite. After the stabilization period we would label the test suite (alpha, beta, release candidate, etc) so that the label would communicate the overall coverage of the HTML5 spec. This would potentially yield - * A known good set of approved tests any point in time * Prevent a build up a large backlog of submitted but not approved tests * Communicate the coverage of the test suite compared to the spec * Allow people to plan for reviewing tests in an asynchronous manner If you have other items you would like, please email me directly. -Thanks!
