HTML5 Chinese Interest Group now closed

Dear members of the HTML5 Chinese Interest Group,

The HTML5 Chinese Interest Group [1] is now closed.

The mission of the group was to facilitate focused discussion in Chinese
of the HTML5 specification and of specifications closely related to
HTML5, to gather comments and questions in Chinese about those
specifications, to collect information about specific use cases in
Chinese speaking regions for technologies defined in those
specifications, to promote public review and testing of all W3C
specifications, to raise language, script or cultural issues to the
appropriate W3C Working Groups, and to report the results of its
activities as a group back to the HTML Working Group, as well as to
other relevant groups and to the W3C membership and community.

The group has now reached the end of its charter and no further progress
is expected.

A new Interest Group, with a mission of enhancing the participation in
Web standards work from Chinese Web community, is getting into shape and
would welcome chair candidates to volunteer. The group will primarily
focus on identifying unique requirements, helping the Chinese members to
get familiar with the process of W3C standards activities, discussion of
technical ideas with the potential to be proposed to W3C, standards
testing and implementation, as well as corresponding standardization
opportunities for W3C while assisting the participation and contribution
from broad Chinese Web community.

W3C thanks the group chairs, Chao Feng, Zhiqiang Zhang and Jinjiang
Zhao, and all the participants in the group for their efforts.

This announcement follows section 5.2.7 of the W3C Process Document:
