I agree with Manu Sporny's objection to the Microdata Candidate Recommendation: http://manu.sporny.org/category/rdfa/ OCLC added Schema.org markup to WorldCat in June 2012 using both Microdata and RDFa 1.1 markup despite the redundancy. http://www.oclc.org/us/en/news/releases/2012/201238.htm At the time, it wasn't clear which would come out ahead. It is obvious now that the forces have aligned behind RDFa and the redundancy is now causing needless confusion in community discussions that should be focusing on vocabulary instead. http://www.w3.org/community/schemabibex/ Please don't use the existence of Microdata in WorldCat as evidence of its relevance to the future.
