I agree that it does cause issues, specifically the fact that a HTML 
document would no longer be complete in one pass without then fetching 
any/all LIST fragments via secondary HTTP requests.

I do have vague recollections circa 2006 about something like this being 
discussed though, but just thought I'd throw it back out there whilst i 
was re reading the draft to see what it brought up. So long as the 
hackers amongst us can throw an innerHTML at a datalist we'll be happy :-)
